It's been a while since I last posted anything. I was on holidays for three weeks in Europe and I've been sorting my life out since I got back (dropping out of uni, enrolling in German classes, looking for other universities to attend and career paths and all that). I have lots of paintings from my travels to share with you guys. Taking a little watercolour diary and my Cotman travel set was a fabulous way to document my holiday. I went to London, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Munich and left each place feeling inspired and ready to create. I would really like to start a series of proper paintings of these places based on my photographs and sketches that I took while I was visiting.
To tide myself over, however, I spent yesterday whipping up this little number of Berlin. A friend of mine, who I met while I was on holiday I Scandinavia, took this photo while she was in Berlin and I loved it so much I asked her if she wouldn't mind me painting it. I made a time lapse video because it's been about six months since I last did one. I'm going to have to invest in gum tape if I'm going to continue with watercolours though, haha.
This photo was taken from a window at Wombats Hostel in Berlin (great accommodation, should you ever need an affordable and convenient place to stay while you're in Berlin). Berlin is my favourite city. It's such an incredible place. It feels like home to me, like I love it just like I love Sydney.
I will post most about Berlin when I post my sketches and paintings from my travel diary. But for now, sit back and watch me paint Berlin in 6 speedy minutes (actually it took a couple of hours but I've been gracious enough to speed it up so you'll only have to spend 6 minutes of your day watching).
